David Kigozi, exhibition : 3 -30 June 2011. New works from "Human Series"

Though David is an art teacher by profession he never got involved in class room teaching and decided to turn his talents to a freelance artist He uses various media for his artworks ranging from bronze, copper, fiberglass and wood for sculptures and paintings oil, acrylics both on canvas and sometimes incorporated with bark cloth, seeds, and raffia.

His works span from abstract, figurative and playful. David appreciates nature and his surrounding environment and mostly his works are based on day to day life activities. Through art David expresses his emotions and portrays them to the art world through various techniques.

He uses thick brilliant colors with a quite tone that blend perfectly with the abstract designs and themes. While painting he uses a brush, pallet knife and sometimes his bear fingers to come up with a desirable texture. Mostly his paintings have composition of birds, livestock and children totally based on the challenges of life. He opts for these themes in his subject because they rejuvenate his childhood memories and day to day life, David mentions that his parents were small scale farmers who used to keep animals like goats and chicken at home which is why they keep reflecting in his paintings as part of the subject.(...)
